This new construction project is a 300-student addition to the existing Kwantlen Park Secondary School in the Surrey City Centre neighbourhood of Surrey, on which I was an Intermediate Architectural Technologist from Construction Documents to Issue for Tender. I participated in client and consultant meetings. I collaborated with my colleagues in developing the Revit BIM model for construction documents {plans, sections, elevations, and schedules), detailing, tendering (issue for bid), and architectural visualisation for coordination purposes. The programme included rooms for art, dance, fitness, science, technology, and foods instruction. In addition to the programme requirements, this project is notable for the inclusion of a Neighbourhood Learning Centre (daycare) and indoor/outdoor indigenous learning spaces. Construction assemblies were designed in consideration for Greenhouse Gas emission reductions. These additional project criteria required comprehensive coordination with various authorities having jurisdiction, bylaw and code requirements, and professional engineers. Particular attention was focused on the seismic- and fire-separation between the addition and existing school, which required coordination between code, envelope, and roofing consultants over drawings, details, and specifications; on which I was the primary contact.
