An exploration and study on structural glass and controlled natural environments within the urban built environment.
Concept "Sanctuary"
The public space is backed with a masonry wall aimed to provide passive heating through solar radiation, as well as active heating through geothermal technologies. The intended design is to simulate a greenhouse effect to enable vegetation growth at a metropolitan intersection during all seasons and climates. Intersections would be designed as places of rest and interaction opportunities through education, retail, or community space.
The architecture encourages awareness of nature within urban environments.
